The KSI 15-2 Subwoofer is a dual version of our 15-1
and is an ideal choice for extended low frequency reproduction.
Uses include special effects, AV theaters and installations
requiring high output low frequency reproduction in a compact
enclosure. As with all KSI loudspeakers, the 15-2
offers exceptional performance for its assigned task. Users
will be impressed with the solid bass response and high dynamic
range.
The KSI 15-2 features a pair of our high power 1558-8
15" cast frame transducers. We designed this driver to
produce very smooth extended low frequency reproduction in a
modest sized optimally vented enclosure. The 1558-8 features
a 2.5" high temperature voice coil and powerful magnet
structure, making the 15-2 highly efficient at converting
electrical energy into acoustical energy. To further enhance
the bass response, we designed a heavily braced and stiff enclosure,
essential to fully realize the performance of our 1558-8 transducer.
Each driver operates in its own sub-enclosure, eliminating internal
crosstalk for tight well defined bass. Dual gold plated binding
posts enable heavy gauge wire to be easily connected to the
15-2. Heavy wire from the power amp to the loudspeaker
helps to maintain a high damping factor, resulting in an improvement
in overall bass response. For optimum performance, the 15-2
should be connected to a high quality power amplifier and an
active crossover. We recommend a crossover frequency of up to
250 hz.
